The Indian Army has launched an online learning platform, “Eklavya Digital Platform”, aimed at transforming the way its officers undergo training and professional development.
- The initiative, driven by the vision of Chief of Army Staff (COAS), aligns with the Indian Army’s theme for 2024 as the “Year of Technology Absorption” and supports the “Decade of Transformation”.
- The platform will enhance military education, streamline course offerings, and help officers upskill continuously in a dynamic, tech-driven environment.
Key Features of the Eklavya Digital Platform:
- Platform Developed by BISAG-N:
The Eklavya platform has been developed under the guidance of Headquarters Army Training Command, with support from Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) and the Directorate General of Information Systems. - Scalable and Integrated Architecture:
Hosted on the Army Data Network, the platform features a scalable architecture that enables seamless integration of various Indian Army training establishments, supporting a wide range of training modules and courses. - Diverse Course Categories: The platform offers three primary categories of courses aimed at developing specialized knowledge and enhancing leadership skills for officers.
Course Categories on Eklavya:
- Pre-Course Preparatory Capsules: Aimed at shifting foundational courses to the digital space, freeing up physical training time for more advanced and contemporary content. Focuses on basics that are crucial for offline Category ‘A’ training establishments.
- Appointment or Specific Assignment-Related Courses: Offers domain-specific training, allowing officers to gain expertise in their field of interest. Helps officers prepare for specialist roles and employment planning.
- Professional Development Suite: Includes training in areas such as Strategy, Operational Art, Leadership, Finance, and Emerging Technology. Enhances officers’ overall professional acumen and prepares them for higher leadership roles.
The platform includes a searchable “Knowledge Highway”, where officers can access various journals, research papers, and articles on diverse military and strategic topics. Eklavya promotes ongoing education for officers, offering the flexibility to pursue multiple courses at once and stay updated with the latest trends in military strategy, leadership, and technology.
