- About: The AK-203 ‘Sher’ is a gas-operated, magazine-fed, select-fire assault rifle, derived from the Russian Kalashnikov AK family.
- The latest ‘Sher’ was test-fired at Korwa, Amethi, uses 100% Indian components and input materials, representing domestic manufacturing.
- It is being progressively localised to replace the ageing INSAS (Indian National Small Arms System) rifle.
